Project Ara- My thoughts

Hello every body and today I am talking project Ara.

Check out my video below before you read this post so you know what project ara is and then read this post.

I personally think that this is an amazing idea with excellent execution so far. This will be a great success if they keep on going in this path. The thing that I think is best about this is that you can make your perfect smartphone. As mentioned in the video if you use your phone as your main camera you can put a larger camera in. Or if you love watching videos and movies then you can put a large screen.

A cool feature is that with parts like cameras, battery and antenna, you can switch without turning off the phone.

All in all I think that this is a great thing to happen to phones and I hope that other companies follow this path.

5 Cool facts about Luigi

Hello everybody and recently I did one of these cool posts for Mario so now I am doing one for his great brother Luigi.

The link for that post is HERE

Personally I like Luigi more that Mario but that is just my personal preference. I would also like to say that these are in no particular order.

Lets get started!

Did you know that Luigi was named after a Pizza place

So we already know that Mario is named after Mario Segale, which was the name of the person who rented the warehouse in America to Nintendo. But what is Luigi named after.

While neither of these are confirmed they both seem right.

So it turns out that Luigi was named after a pizza place in Redmond, Washington called Mario’s and Luigi’s. We should also note that Redmond, Washington is the home of Nintendo in America.

Just think for a moment what this would have done for Mario and Luigi’s pizza place business wise, after the success of super Mario bros.

Luigi has not always worn green clothing

And I am not only talking about the fact that in the original Super Mario bros he wore white overalls.

He is still clearing wearing a green shirt and shoes in that game. He also has green hair and a green mustache, for some reason.

But in 1984 not-really-a-classic-though-Nintendo-tries-to-call-it-one game Wrecking Crew Luigi looked much more different.

And that’s not even the most weird look he has had.

Im glad he has decided on his current wardrobe.

Luigi is the only one who knows what is behind Shy Guys mask

For years no one has ever seen what is behind shy guys mask but in Mario Power Tennis Luigi finds out if you win a match with Shy Guy.

The look of horror on Luigi’s face probably means something horrific is behind there.

Luigi had his own games way before Luigi’s Mansion

As shown above the game is called ‘Mario is Missing’, but seriously, MARIO’S GREATEST ADVENTURE YET!

But yes, this was Luigi’s first game were he was the star.

Luigi is the man of many names

Here is the list with links in were he was called each name:

The Luigi Kid – The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!,Long John Spaghetti (by Mario) – The Super Mario Bros. March 10

Hello everybody and it is time to learn some cool facts about what has happened today in the past.

First off today is the 69th day of the year and that means that there are 296 days left this year.

One cool thing for me is that today, here in Australia, it is labor day. Labor day is a public holiday commemorating the 8-hour working day in Australia day. This day also recognizes workers contribution to the Australian economy. The date varies across Australia day and so does the name. In Tasmania this day is called 8-hours day and in the northern territory it is called May Day.

Sadly on this day in 1933 an earth quake in Long Beach, California killed 115 people and caused over 40 million dollars worth of damage.

A great discovery was done on this day in 1977. The rings around Uranus were discovered.

Another great thing happened on this day, only in the year 1989. A second red nose day was held and raised £27million. This is 49812705 AUS dollars, 4898099808 Jamaican dollars a interestingly enough 516494871900 Indonesian Rupiah.

One last triumph is that the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter gained orbit on Mars on this day in 2006. The MRO is a multipurpose spacecraft desinged to conduct reconnaissance and exploration of mars, from orbit.

Mars_Reconnaissance_Orbiter This space craft was worth US$720 million. This space craft was built by  Lockheed Martin under the supervision of Jet Propulsion Laboratory. It was launched on August 12, 2005. The MRO was the 6th spacecraft to either be orbiting on be on mars. The power that it took was 2000 watts and it weighed  1,031 kilograms (2,273 lb) on land.

Chuck Norris was born on this day in 1940.

Chuck Norris, as most of you probably already know, is a great Actor and is often memed as being really tough and based on exaggerated feats of combat. Chuck is now 73.

So that’s all for this post.

Top 11 inspirational posts

Hello everybody and today I am sharing some of my favorite quotes. I love quotes and I post a lot of them up on Facebook and I thought that I would share some of my favorites.

Before we begin I would just like to say sorry because I have not had a post up since last week and this might happen a bit more often because of school.

Lets get started.

This is very true. I like that I am able to say that I live by this. Everyone is different so I don’t see why you would waste you whole life trying to be like some one else.

Don’t ever try to look at a role model and say that one day I want to be like him. It is great to look up at someone and admire them, but never say “I will be exactly like him/her when I get older”. Just look at your dream an say I will be the best at this.

This one relates to what I was just saying in the last one. If you have a dream then say that you will be the best at that dream. If you miss that dream, as long as you have tried your hardest, then you will land somewhere close.

This basically means that you need to try anything  otherwise when you are to old to do that thing you will regret it. The one thing that I never want to do is not do something because of what might go wrong. Just try anything that you want to instead of wondering ” what if”.

This one speaks for it’s self.

cool quote 4873

Nothing is impossible. If you have a dream then you will reach it if you want it bad enough.

This one is a big thing to me. If you don’t fail then that means you have never tried. I would rather fail then not try and that is what I live by. Similar things have been said by many successful people. I think that I find this one reaches me because I love basketball and without it I would be a different person.

Don't ever let someone tell you that you can't do something

This quote is one that many people know but it is truly inspiring. People truly only tell you that you can not do some thing your self because they can not do it themselves. If some one tells you “you can’t do that” them look them in the eyes and say “Just wait and see.” when you achieve it then you will be the one who was right.

Yes, another one from Michael Jordan.

To want or wish is completely different to making something happen. There are many people who want do something. Those who succeed are the ones who make it happen.

This is another quote that is very well known, and rightfully so. Life is the harshest place. Only those who truly want something will get it. To make your big dream come true you will work hours on end and have blood, sweat and tears by the end. If you truly want to make something happen then you will put all your time into that one thing, no matter what the cost.

meme steve job

This quote is amazing and it comes from an amazing person. No matter how much you hate apple, you can not fight the fact that Steve Jobs was an amazing person. He is truly inspirational two millions, if not billions.

I really live by this one. If you are crazy enough to change the world you will. The second you limit your success you have lost the battle. If you say that you will not change the world, you never will. This quote is a great one to know.

These quotes are all quotes I know and love. I live by most of them and most of them are not well-known enough.

5 facts about the Olympics

Hello everyone and seeing as the Olympic games are almost done, I thought I would find out some facts on the Olympic games.

Let’s start off with some background information. The Olympic games are a international event that happen every two years. The games are alternated between Winter and Summer Olympics. They first started in Athens, Greece. When they first started the Olympic games were not international and only men were allowed to watch  or compete. This is were they were held:

Obviously this is not how it is since it was built. It was reconstructed for the first modern Olympics in 1896.

Now that we have some background information let’s start learning some fact’s.

The five Olympic rings represent the 5 major regions in the world Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and Oceania. The rings colours go as follow: blue, yellow, black, green, and red

Every single flag in the world has at least one of these colours.

The only three countries that have never held the Olympic games are Africa, South America and Antarctica.

Only one person has ever won a gold medal at both the summer and winter games. That one person is Eddie Eagen.

He won light-heavyweight  boxing at the 1920 Antwerp summer games. Many years later Eddie was a part of Americas four-man bobsled team at the 1932 Lake Placid Winter Olympic games.

Eddie Eagen      SOURCE

Norway is a straight up BOSS at the winter Olympics.

In total Norway has won 303 Olympic medals, 107 of these are gold. Both of these are all-time records. Not only this but Norway has greater bang for buck. By this I mean Norway has won 1 medal for every 16,556 residents. On the other hand, America has one medal for every 1,237,154 residents.

Another cool thing is that the person who has won the most medals in his career has won 12 medals, 8 of these are gold. Guess where he lives. If you guessed Norway then you would be right.

18 countries have only sent 1 athlete to Sochi. These countries are:

Zimbabwe*, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Timor-Leste*, Malta*, Cayman Islands, Mexico, Venezuela, U.S. Virgin Islands, Nepal, Luxembourg, Bermuda, Paraguay*, British Virgin Islands, Hong Kong, Philippines and Tonga*.

* Making their Winter Olympics debut this year.

Those were 5 cool facts about the Olympic games. I hope you enjoy the rest of the games.

Cool Things About Learning an Instrument

Hello everybody and today we are learning about the cool things that come with learning an instrument.

I was playing a bit of trumpet earlier on today and I thought what does learning how to play an instrument  help with. That was the inspiration for today’s post.

So there are many reasons to learn how to play an instrument, such as enjoyment. While reasons like this are great reasons there are a whole heap of other reasons to play. In this post we only learn a few of these but there are many more.

Let’s begin

Team Work

This is something that only comes from playing in a band, something that I do. Playing in a band is very difficult. You need to put everyone’s part together like a puzzle. If you are missing one person than the song often sounds empty. It is also a case of how you put these parts together. If someone is half a beat off then the song, again, can just sound wrong.

All of these problems force you to work together. It will take many times of people just trying to match their parts together to get a song right. Getting these parts together is really quite an art, and apparently, is very good for your co-operation skills.

 Memory Skills

There is plenty of study showing on how even listening to music helps memory and motor skill.

One study was done in which 22 children the age of 3 and 4 were either given singing lessons or keyboard lessons. There was a control group of 15 children who had no musical training. Both of these groups participated in the same preschool activity’s. The results showed that those preschoolers that participated in weekly keyboard lessons improved spatial-temporal skills by up to 34%. The coolest thing about this is that the effects lasted long-term.

Management and Organisational Skills

For a musician to improve, they need to practice almost every day, if not every day. A good musician will always know that quality of practice time matters more than quantity. To get good quality out of practice time you need to know how to plan your time. This is a very important skill in life, so learning it from a young age is really useful.

Teaches You to Keep on Moving Forward

Learning an instrument takes a lot of practice and time. By the time the you can say that you are good you have gone through some good hours just practicing. This teaches you perseverance. Even the best of musicians need to play over a song multiple times for that song to sound great.

The Rewarding Experience Afterwards

After all of this practice that we where just talking about there is the reward. Once you have played a song over and over again, there is that first time you play a song amazingly. That is the reward that all musicians love. The experience when you present a song and play it well. It is great to listen to the result of all this work and that is what I love about music.

Those were just a few ways that learning a musical instrument helps you. I have more facts on the ways that music helps the mind HERE

5 Cool Facts About Mario

Hello everybody and today we are going to learn 10 cool facts about Mario.

First off I would like to say that Mario is a really cool video game character. That is something that most of you know. No matter how much people dis-like Nintendo, I have not met a person that does not like more that one game that has Mario in it. Comment down below to tell me if you would like to see more of these posts about video game characters. Also tell me if you would like to learn about a certain character.

If you want to see this in video format go HERE

Let’s get started!

1. Mario actually dies on the cover on his own game.

Nintendo…..what have you done. On the cover of a game that sold so well, the hero dies on the cover. I have nothing else to say.

2. The clouds in the original Super Mario game are exactly the same as the bushes except for the colour on.

This is just laziness. I guess it does not matter too much I half the people playing don’t notice.

3. Mario’s Name used to be jump man

Mario’s first appearance in a game was in the original Donkey Kong games. Now Donkey Kong is a start of his own but back then he was the evil villain who kidnapped the damsel in distress. Mario, whose name was Jumpman, had to rescue the damsel. Not only did he have a different name but also a different job. Jump man was a carpenter. Before this Mario was Mr. Video.

Source: http://www.taringa.net/posts/info/16769668/Curiosidades-de-los-videojuegos.html

Nintendo loves to reference lots of different things in their games. In Super Mario Bros. 3, water Island is shaped just like Japan. Also the castle on that island is where Nintendo headquarters is.

5. Mario’s Entire Design Was a Way of Coping With Graphical Limitations

The reason Mario looks the way he does is that due to the limitations in the console, they just made it easy for themselves. The mustache and hat are there because it was not possible to make a realistic looking mouth and hair otherwise. The overalls are there so that you can see his arms moving back and forth by the yellow buttons.

Mario is one of my favorite video game characters and that was why I did this post.

Why Reading is Great for your Brain

Hello everybody and today we are learning what kind of effects books have on your brain.

library shelfs

Photo from: wikicommons

There are so many reasons to read. In this post I will only be able to mention some of these. I 100% recommend reading every day. I know that this is something that I have not found a good way to do. That was the inspiration for this post. I know that reading is good for lots of things and I just want to read more. As I was researching I thought this would be awesome to share so this is what has come from that.

I love books and a couple of things that shocked me are that the average American does not read another book once they leave college. One other fact is that about 28% of adults in the U.S have not read a book in the last year.

Let’s start this post.

Reading will help you relax.

One of the most obvious reasons for reading is to just escape. If you just read for even half an hour it can refresh you and keep you going for the rest of the day. I often find, my self, that when I find a good book, every time that I read that book I find my self lost in the story. When you have read you don’t have as much going on in your mind.

Basically what I am trying to say is that reading is a way of escaping all of the stress of work or school. Just for this half an hour of an escape can increase productivity.

When you read for half an hour each day it is almost certain that you will eventually come across a new word. Also being constantly exposed to words can help you remember the spelling and meaning of many words. You can tell if someone reads everyday by the way they talk. If you read then you are more likely to use better language skills in day to day life. Also when writing you will use more interesting language to keep the listener interested.

You Sleep Better After Reading

As we have already established, reading is great to escape. Many sleep experts have recommended a regular de-stressing routine before going to bed. Bright lights and screens from devices signal to the brain that it is time to wake up so that is obviously not a solution. Well you guessed it. Reading with a dim light to not strain your eyes is ideal.

Another thing that makes reading superior to any electronic device is that after having watched a few videos, checked all your emails or anything like that, your brain will still be buzzing around the never sleeping internet. One rule to follow when choosing a book to read before going to sleep is to not make it a book that you can not stop reading for a couple of hours.

Reading Keeps You Still

One of the things that parents will love most about this post is that reading will keep even the most energetic of people sitting still. My Mum has said a million times “I love it when my kids learnt how to read because they were quite for once.”

I am a very energetic person and every time that I sit down and read a book it keeps me still. The only thing that comes close to that is when I am writing posts. Honestly, if you can make a kid my age sit down three times a week to write posts, then congratulations. I only do it out of joy.

Constantly Reading helps Memory

Many people find that just by reading that half an hour a day their memory gets boosted. There is not too much information or fact behind this but I will honestly say that it is true for me and the amount of times that people have said it is just way to many. Even if this does not happen for you then I would not just not read seeing as there are so many benefits.

How to Schedule Your Reading

Scheduling something into your life is very useful for anything you have difficulty doing daily. Once you have done something for a couple of weeks you will not even think about doing that anymore. I would recommend before you go to sleep or first thing in the morning. Really no matter what I recommend you should just find the best time in your day. Whether it is on the train to work or during your lunch time break, the only tip I have for you is to READ!
